Sharjah24: The Sharjah Social Services Department revealed a noticeable increase in home accidents involving children due to the absence of parental supervision for the past three months.
Amina Al Rifai, Director of the Child and Family Protection Centre, stated that most reported accidents were taking medicine pills, vitamins, detergents, or chemicals substances, by children aged between 6 months and four years.

Al Rifai explained that after receiving the complaining call, the child would be taken to Al Qassimi Hospital to obtain the appropriate treatment.

The center provides counseling sessions for parents on the need to keep sources of harm out of children's reach and allocate closed cabinets out of children's reach to place medicines and dangerous substances in them.

Al Rifai appealed to parents and guardians, to take precaution, and watch over children, especially during summer holidays, during which accidents increase in swimming pools and other places of entertainment.
