Sharjah 24: Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) hosted a media delegation from the Republic of Sudan, including a group of journalists representing a number of major Sudanese newspapers and prestigious magazines, to learn about the Chamber’s role, experience and pioneering services to the business community.
The Sudanese media delegation, which is visiting the Emirate of Sharjah with the coordination of the Sudanese Business Council working under the umbrella of the Chamber, was received by His Excellency Mohamed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who gave them a full explanation of the new Sharjah Chamber's strategy and vision of being a force driving the commercial and industrial development of all commercial and industrial activities and businesses in Sharjah.

The Sudanese delegation included Dr. Omar Mohamed Marzouk, Governor of the Al Jazeera Project, Mr. Omar Al Tom, Chairman of the Sudanese Business Council, and Yasser Hassan Al-Naeem, Vice-President of the Sudanese Business Council, in addition to a number of editors-in-chief of major Sudanese newspapers.

The meeting was attended by Abdulaziz Shattaf, Assistant Director General of the Communication and Business Sector at the Sharjah Chamber, Jamal Saeed Bouzanjal, Director of the Corporate Communications Department at the Sharjah Chamber, Fatima Khalifa Al Mokarrab, Director of the International Relations Department at the Chamber, and Heba Al Marzouqi, Head of the Business Councils and Joint Committees Department at the Sharjah Chamber.

His Excellency Mohamed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi welcomed the delegation and thanked the Sudanese Business Council for organising the visit, which would serve the promotional and introductory aspects of the Emirate, and contribute to opening the doors of communication and cooperation with the Republic of Sudan through the media, which is a major partner and an important player in the development of trade relations, by highlighting the areas of investment and the ways and mechanisms of cooperation between the two sides.

Al Awadi pointed out the importance of Sharjah as an attractive and promising investment destination, especially in light of the flexible investment legislation, and incentives and facilities offered by the different government agencies to foreign investors, in addition to being an economic power in light of its large contribution to the industrial sector in the UAE. He added that Sharjah is important as a thriving tourist and cultural destination, which qualified it to be a distinguished business environment to attract foreign investments and a major commercial hub in the region, benefiting from its strategic location between East and West, and its direct view of the Arabian Gulf and the Indian Ocean.

The Sudanese media delegation expressed their admiration for the progress seen in the Emirate of Sharjah, noting the level of development that characterises SCCI, and they stressed that it will enjoy a wide position in their media reports that on the emirate, appreciating the role of the Sharjah Chamber in advancing and developing joint economic work in the two brotherly countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Director General of the Sharjah Chamber invited the Sudanese delegation to visit the Middle East Watch and Jewelery Exhibition, which will start on March 23, at the Expo Centre Sharjah. The delegation also toured the the Chamber facilities and the permanent exhibition of local industries, where they got acquainted with the history of the Chamber, SCCI administrations, branches, activities, the services it provides to its members, and its tireless quest to contribute to strengthening the leading economic position of the Emirate of Sharjah as a regional centre on the map of international trade.
