Sharjah 24: With the participation of 200 contestants, Wasit Suburb Council of the Department of Districts and Villages Affairs (DVA) of the Government of Sharjah, completed the sports activities with a successful organisation of the Nabd Wasit 6 event by the Council for the sixth year in a row.
The contestants participated in the events and four categories of Nabd Wasit 6, which aimed to enhance community awareness of the importance of sport and physical activity and make it a lifestyle for the community, and different parties participated in the organisation, preparation and follow-up of the race, including Sharjah Municipality, Sharjah Police General Command, Al Qudra Sports Services, and UAE Nabd Volunteer Team.
At the end of the race, Abdulaziz Al Hassan, Chairman of Wasit Suburb Council in Sharjah, honoured the winners in the sport event, where the winners from first to third places, in each of the four categories, were honoured.
In the first category, for ages 19 and above, Nouman Al Issawi won the first place, Anwar Al-Quoz won the second place, and Abdul Salam Tareh won the third place. In the second category, from 16 to 18 years old, Jamal Abdel Nasser won the first place, Abdullah Ahmed won the second place, and Hazaa Khaled won the third place. In the third category, from 13 to 15 years old, Ahmed Issa Al Kaabi won the first place, Maktoum Amin ranked second, and Marwan Musa Al Ghafli won the third place.
In the fourth category, from 8 to 12 years old, Rabea Khalaf Rabea won the first place, the second was Abdul Latif Al Sabri, and the third was Hammad Ismail Al Sabri. The Chairman of Sharjah Wasit Suburb Council praised the success and the importance of the running event and how it contributed to spreading the culture of sports among the people of the suburb and encouraging them as families to participate in its challenges.
He also lauded the role of the event in spreading the culture of exercise and adopting a healthy lifestyle capable of reducing the risk of infection from chronic diseases, such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
Al Hussan explained that this event is only an indication of the keenness of Wasit Suburb Council, within the framework of the policy of DVA on the health of the community and the need to adopt healthy lifestyles through exercise, expressing his appreciation to all participants in the organisation of the sporting event.
