Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem toured the corridors of the exhibition, which will last for 5 months, highlighting the impact of Islamic civilization through art collections that are displayed for the first time. The exhibition comes as a result of cooperation between the Sharjah Museums Authority and the Venice Foundation for Civil Museums.
Deputy Ruler of Sharjah was acquainted with the contents of the exhibition, which includes approximately 72 acquisitions of artworks and documents preserved in the Venice Foundation for Civil Museums, which are shown for the first time and document the rich exchange between the Islamic world and the city of Venice, which formed a strong link between them in the period between the Middle Ages and the modern era, which set artistic distinction and inspire artists on both sides.
The exhibition is based on three themes: “Encounters”, “Dialogues” and “Inspiration”, each of which includes a bouquet of documents and anthologies of Islamic art and Venetian art aimed at introducing visitors to the impact of Islamic civilization on various sectors and fields, most notably the diversity of arts.
The exhibition is accompanied by a package of educational programmws that will expand the awareness of visitors and those interested in cultural affairs about the impact of Islamic civilization and its extension on the city of Venice.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, Head of the Ruler's Office, Manal Ataya, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority, Giuseppe Vinucciarro, the Italian Consul in Dubai, and a number of officials and those interested in cultural and artistic affairs.
