Sharjah24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, knight Kristaps Nertenks, and his horse "Valor" from the Republic of Latvia, crowned the Longines Sharjah Prize Cup, at the conclusion of the activities of the Sharjah Ruler's Cup International Five-Star Show Jumping Championship, which was held in the evening Sunday at the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club.
The financial half prize amounted to 150 thousand euros, out of a total of (425) thousand euros, which were won by the winners and those in advanced positions in 28 rounds included in the tournament over four days.
The championship comes under the generous directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, as part of His Highness’s support and sponsorship of equestrian activities.
The championship is organised by the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club in cooperation with the UAE Equestrian And Racing Federation and under the supervision of the International Equestrian Federation, with the participation of 300 riders from 35 countries around the world, and 400 horses.
The closing competition and the awarding ceremonies of the winners were witnessed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Qasimi, President of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, President of the Championship, Issa Hilal Al Hezami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Sultan Al Yahyai, Director General of the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, Director of the Championship, and a number of officials from the International Equestrian Federation, and a large number among the tournament guests, representatives of sponsors, and a large audience of showjumping enthusiasts.
The jockeys who qualified for the Middle East countries for the Showjumping World Cup final (America - Las Vegas 2022) were announced, after the final competition, which included the last rounds of the Arab League Qualifier for the Showjumping World Cup, and the fourth hosted by the UAE, after three rounds witnessed by the championships.
