The meeting started with an introductory film about the University of Sharjah and the modern and multidisciplinary programmes aiming to keep pace with global developments. The film introduced colleges, students of different nationalities, the university advanced position according to the latest international classifications and the great progress it has achieved over the past years in the areas of sustainability, physics, engineering, technology, and infrastructure, aiming to lead in scientific research that serves the labour market and the local and international community.
During the meeting, the attendees discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation and consolidate relations to serve both parties, while presenting several scientific proposals, such as activating school sports, focusing on the role of sports in reducing domestic violence, and the importance of educating the community about the dangers of sports doping.
Both parties also proposed to develop awareness and rehabilitation programmes to prepare leaders in sports and to attract students to sports clubs. In addition, the attendees reviewed the research capabilities of laboratories, institutes, centres, research groups and human expertise that contribute to serving the local community and scientific research.
The visiting delegation praised the specialised and integrated education and training programmes provided by the university, in addition to the solid scientific research that would achieve the desired goals of this cooperation, and upgrade capabilities and expertise, which would be reflected in the development process witnessed by the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE in different sports, educational, artistic and social fields.
The delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Muammar Beltayeb, Vice President for Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, and a number of professors, the delegation included His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Abdul Malik Jani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Individual Games Committee, and several directors of SSC departments.
