Sharjah University signs a MoU With Sulaiman Al Habib

Sharjah 24: Within the framework of the University of Sharjah’s keenness to strengthen relations with local institutions in the UAE, to support students' training, the University of Sharjah signed a memorandum of understanding with Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Dubai.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine, on behalf of the University, and Dr. Awad Al Omari, assistant vice president for medical and academic affairs, on behalf of Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group in the presence of Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib, the group’s President. The memorandum of understanding aimed to exchange experiences and support continuous communication between the university and the group to provide effective and ideal training programmes for students of the College of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Health Sciences.

The MoU stipulates focusing on academic education, practical and research training as a requirement for professional development in the UAE; the important role that human resources play in social and economic development and health care provided to the community; in addition to exchanging scientific and medical expertise and expanding research fields; the important role of the university in designing academic programmes and strategies for evaluating students in order to achieve international standards to improve the quality of medical services, supervising research in scientific, clinical and applied fields conducted by faculty and students; and contributing to professional development and continuing medical education programs.

On the sidelines of the signing of the agreement, Prof. Qutayba Hamid welcomed the attendees and expressed that he is pleased to cooperate with Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group, noting that it is one of the leading groups in providing healthcare according to the highest standards in the Middle East.  

Prof. Qutayba Hamid added that the university can benefit from the group’s expertise, especially since the University of Sharjah has a medical complex, including 5000 students, being among the best medical complexes, research institutes and clinical centres in the Arab Gulf region equipped to receive students and researchers, in addition to providing the best academic programmes accredited locally and globally.

Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib praised the cooperation between the hospital and the university, as it is the leading university in the UAE, emphasising that the cooperation includes research and academic accreditation.

Prof. Dr. Awad Al Omari explained the strategic plans developed by Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Group, which aim to improve and develop health services in the UAE in coordination with the community, in addition to building fruitful relations with academic institutions to achieve common goals in providing services to patients, students and individuals working in the field of health services.
