Sharjah 24: Dr. Abdul Razzaq Bani Rashid, Chairman of the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled's Board of Directors, emphasised the importance of local sports contests in developing the capacities of players with disabilities and preparing them for formal regional and worldwide championships.
He told "Sharjah 24" on the side-lines of the 2nd Athletics Gathering for the persons with disability, held Saturday at the club's headquarters, that the gathering is held in collaboration with the UAE Paralympic Committee with the goal of determining players' levels in various sports and enhancing the quality of their performance.
He stated that the second gathering attracted around 120 male and female players from seven disabled clubs across the emirates, all of whom adhered to strict precautionary measures to fight the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Bani Rashid lauded the handicapped clubs' commitment to compete in the gathering, which is one of the key contests that demonstrates players' preparation for official tournaments, whether local or continental.
