Sharjah 24: 80 senior citizens, members of Al Asala Clubs; affiliated to Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), participated in a trip to "Expo 2020", accompanied by supervisors and volunteers.
This trip comes after a suspension of SSSD activities due to the Corona pandemic.
Maha Mansour Al Ali, Director of Government Communication Department at SSSD, said that based on the importance of senior citizens and being an integral part of the UAE society, an entertainment trip was organised to the "Expo 2020" to make them happy, and allow them to learn about the cultures of diverse peoples participating in the world exhibition.
Al Ali added that the trip participants from all SSSD branches and over 60 years old expressed their great happiness whereas the trip allowed them to participate in global events hosted by the UAE.
Maha Mansour Al Ali noted that SSSD has been organising a number of internal and external trips annually, but the Corona pandemic disrupted these trips for about two years, and today SSSD is trying to restore such activities that delights senior citizens.
Al Ali extended their thanks to the Expo 2020 administration for providing and facilitating a comfortable atmosphere for senior citizens, and taking the necessary precautionary measures to protect them. Maha Mansour Al Ali added that during the tour, they visited multiple pavilions, and got acquainted with the various cultures of Western and foreign peoples, as well as watching arts they did not know before. Consequently, all these interesting initiatives will reflect positively on their psyche, bring them out of isolation and reintegrate them again into social activities.
