The session was given on Sunday, given by Nawaf Younes, managing editor of “Alshariqa Althaqafiya” magazine, presented by Dr. Omar Abdelaziz, and was attended by Ibrahim Butti Saeed, director of the club.
Dr. Omar introduced Nawaf Younis, journalist and author, and talked about his background. Nawaf Younis has a distinctive writing style for he mixes his stories with arts in an effort to open new semantic horizons, and to benefit from the capabilities of each art in developing the narrative.
Younis divided his lecture into two parts, the first was theoretical, and the second was a narration.
In the theoretical part, Younes sought to show the history of the short story and its stages of development in the Western and Arab world, how it benefited from the public speaking and visual arts, and what distinguished the short story from novels.
In the second part, the narration, Nawaf Younis read a short story entitled "Guernica Again". He stated that it is an attempt of how to intertwine between arts and narrative, through a dialogue with the famous painting Guernica by Pablo Picasso.
