Sharjah24: Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” received international accreditation to upgrade the standard specification related to ISO 22301:2012 of Businesses Continuity (BC) Management System to the latest version 22301: 2019. With this achievement, the Department of Economic Development in Sharjah is distinguished as one of the first local and federal entity to obtain this certificate with this version.
The Department’s achievement of obtaining the international accreditation certificate in business continuity is important, thanks to its continuous and effective provision of services during the pandemic, and the provision of new services that are compatible with the sustainability of service provision. Also, it is due to the high use of the digital transformation platform in the SEDD by 96%, whereas the number of digital services reached 124 ones. This achievement confirms the SEDD’s readiness to carry out its work and provide vital services to all partners and customers during emergencies and crises. Likely, it reflects its commitment to international quality standards and its keenness on continuous improvement in the levels and mechanisms of providing its services to all customers in accordance with the best international standards.

Commenting on that, His Excellency Sultan bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, stressed that obtaining the accreditation confirms our success in continuously developing standards for the efficiency of services and bringing them to the highest levels, with the aim of achieving the mission and vision in achieving sustainable economic development and quality in practices.

His Excellency said that the Department is constantly seeking to ensure the provision of the best services to its customers, and to raise the efficiency of the administrative governance system through multiple aspects. This came through the adoption of international standards, specifications, and frameworks that are brief and comprehensive, which contributed to providing distinguished qualitative and effective services.

On the other hand, Ali Ahmed Al Naqbi, Deputy Director of Information Technology Department at SEDD, said that the pivotal role played by the Department during the pandemic reflected the efficiency of its administrative and operational bodies in providing government services to customers.

Likewise, Al Naqbi explained that the process of organizing the roles and tasks in the Department took place in a harmonious manner among all the departments and sections. This contributed to the provision of exceptional services in a streamlined manner and high flexibility, thanks to the institutional culture that is concerned with adopting quality specifications, which serve the sustainability and continuity of providing business in unusual cases and circumstances.

From her side, Eng. Elham Al Shehhi, Head of Networks and Infrastructure Section and Head of the Emergency Committee in SEDD, illustrated that the Department was able to establish a system that matches the highest international standards. She explained that this would enhance the emirate's position among the best business destinations in the world. Then, she added that SEDD is placing all necessary efforts to provide the best services to business partners and investors, through the implementation of business continuity management systems in all its fields.
