Sharjah 24: Sharjah Ladies Club launched a wheelchair service on the club's beach for the elderly and the disabled, to facilitate their access to the beach and enjoy swimming with high safety and privacy.
Her Excellency Khawla Jassim Al Serkal, Director General of the Sharjah Ladies Club, confirmed that the wheelchair service is distinguished from the rest of the services provided in being free for these groups.
Her Excellency Al Serkal said that all existing facilities have been studied to suit these categories, in line with the strategy of the Emirate of Sharjah to be age and disabled friendly Emirate.
For her part, Noura Al Midfa, the initiator of the idea, said that the idea of the service came to her when she used to go to the beach and always faced "difficulty in swimming".
Al Midfa added that she had proposed the idea to the Sharjah Ladies Club to provide a track for wheelchairs. The club welcomed the idea and expanded the idea of the proposal to provide a wheelchair service for groups that have difficulty practicing swimming, which can be used now through pre-booking.
Al Midfa hopes that this service will benefit the community, especially the women with disabilities, as the club provides a beach that they can enjoy freely with privacy.
