Ahmed Al Jasmi and Mohammed Al Ameri, two Emirati artists, were guests at the session, which was moderated by media personality, Saeed Al Amoudi and attended by many theatre fans.
The Session focused on a few themes in order to illustrate His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's interest in history and how it relates to the present in his plays, since his writing involves projections on the status quo in various nations.
The two speakers discussed their experiences working at His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's theatre, how they deal with the characters in his plays, and how His Highness the Ruler is used to attending rehearsals for performances and overcame the challenges that the crew faced.
Al Jasmi discussed the Sultan theatre’s historical significance and its effectiveness in bringing the distant past into the present through the selection of a time and historical situation and merging it with the present, saying: “Anyone who watches or reads His Highness' drama will notice that it tackles history in a way that is relevant for our time and space as if it believes in the adage that "history repeats itself."
Al Jasmi highlighted that His Highness' dramatic works provide a wide spectrum of knowledge and culture, and they address important issues and questions concerning man and humanity, injustice, racism, and violence.
He stated, "The experience of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, and his carrying out significant responsibilities in addition to being a creative playwright and to the tasks of government is a one-of-a-kind experience by all criteria." It is a unique instance, as well as a model for the educated ruler, who is conscious of his enlightening, educational, and social role.
Al Jasmi emphasised that the Emirati, Gulf, and Arab theatres are at their best because of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's involvement and follow-up, as well as his supply of every support to those in authority."
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah's plays, according to Muhammad Al-Amiri, are multi-dimensional and integrate with the path of history and reality, which began in the 1950s and has continued to have consequences in daily life, serving as an inspiration for authors, producers, and thinkers.
When it comes to His Highness's experiences, according to Al-Amiri, they are shaped by the strategy of intellectual movement, which takes an approach that considers the concept of evil in all its manifestations, given that evil is an organized force with a unified front, even if its symbols, features, and forms vary.
Furthermore, they are works that reflect and explain what is happening in the Arab world, and the quest for man's spiritual side as well as the national and Islamic intellectual dimensions, which form a clear line for a theatre that deals with a theme and guides thinking.
