Sharjah24: The Sharjah Police General Command participated in the "White Cane" day march organised by the Emirates Association for the Visually Impaired on Khalid Lake, coinciding with the UAE's celebrations of the International White Cane Day, which falls on October 15 of each year.
The participation of Sharjah Police, represented by the Department of Community Police, and the Department of Media and Public Relations, stems from the keenness to support this category, as well as highlight their achievements and contributions to society, by combining all efforts to ensure the provision of means of safety and comfort for them.
The participation of the Sharjah Police in the White Cane march, which began Thursday morning at Al Majaz Waterfront, was attended by Lt. Col. Mohammed Al Marri, Director of the Community Police Department, and Lt. Col. Muhammad bin Butti, Deputy Director of the Media and Public Relations Department.
Lt. Colonel Mohammed Al Marri, Director of the Community Police Department, confirmed that the celebration of the International White Cane Day embodies the sincere desire of Sharjah Police to raise public awareness of the importance of the white cane for the visually blind, as it symbolizes freedom, trust and independence of people for this category.
