Sharjah 24: Officials and specialists in crisis management at the 10th edition of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) confirmed that business sustainability has become one of the basic systems in any government agency, especially after the Corona pandemic, explaining that crisis and risk management is different from business sustainability, as the latter specialises in ensuring the ability of institutions to provide their services, while managing crises, disasters and emergencies, is concerned with dealing with them.
This came during the “Government Communication and Business Sustainability” session held on the second day of the 10th edition of the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) and saw notable speakers including  Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Qsimi, Director of the Prevention and Safety Authority; Col. Dr. Hamdan Rashid Al Tunaiji, Head of Crisis and Disaster Management Department at the Sharjah Police General Command; Fatima Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Head of Business Sustainability Department and a member of the Executive Committee for Business Sustainability in Sharjah. The session was moderated by Mohammed Al Mannnaei, Emirati presenter, Dubai Media.

Initiatives that support government agencies

Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Qasimi stressed that Sharjah is interested in business management, and its primary role is to set the strategy between the government and the services of citizens, and the emirate has allocated a committee to carry out initiatives that support government departments, noting that government communication is an essential part within these efforts, and without which the development process cannot succeed

Business sustainability is different from crisis management

Lt. Colonel Dr. Hamdan Rashid Al Tunaiji explained that the roots of “business sustainability” came in the seventies of the last century, when large computers were prevalent, and companies were worried due to the high temperature of computers, and then the idea of risk assessment came, to develop and take the framework of work within continuity departments. In the UAE, an independent integrated system was established in 2021 in this regard.

Prevention and Safety Committee predicted the Corona virus

Fatima Mohammed Al Marzouqi indicated that the importance of business sustainability is an alternative plan to continue working, whether in government or private institutions, saying: "The Prevention and Safety Committee in Sharjah predicted the Corona virus, after it came out of China and began to spread in neighbouring countries, and set a plan to deal with it thus becoming ready for it before it reaches the Emirate of Sharjah.”
