Sharjah 24: Children and adolescents interacted with the animal story-writing workshop during their participation, at the headquarters of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH), the Institute’s branch in Dibba Al Hisn, and the Al Dhaid Cultural and Sports Club, which was presented by Qasim Saudi, a specialist in writing children’s narratives. The workshop targeted children and adolescents from eight to 15 years old.
Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of SIH, stated that the workshop constitutes a vital model in preserving narrative, and opens the imagination of the youth to be the backbone of these workshops.
He added that after 21 editions of the Sharjah International Narrator Forum (SINF), September has become the base month for narrative, in which narrators meet, every year, at the SIH, to contributing to narratives preservation and transmission to new generations.
Qasim Saudi pointed out that the workshop held mind and written exercises, which helped to cluster a wide range of imagination for the participants. The stories written by the participating children and adolescents were exclusively shared and discussed in the workshop so that the participants build confidence within themselves.
He added that he presented with the children a tree made of beautiful stories in which the participants expressed aesthetic, human, behavioural, educational, and social values. The participants seemed pleased with what they wrote and what they have learned. They have broken the barrier of fear in their attempt to write stories, which might lead to the rise of new faces in the world of narrative.
