SSC praises SEC's approval of MoU with WUF

Sharjah 24: Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), confirmed the approval of the SSC of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Underwater Federation - WUF- CMAS, to achieve a major shift for underwater sports in Sharjah.
Chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the SSC held a meeting, in the presence of Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, and Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, to invest in underwater sports, especially since His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah ordered the establishment of five Olympic training centres for marine sports, fully equipped with modern technologies, in the coastal cities of Sharjah.

Al Hazami stated that the Council contacted Anna Arzhanova, the President of CMAS, directly during her visit to the UAE last June, regarding the request of making Sharjah the regional headquarters of CMAS in the Middle East and Africa and hosting a round of the 2022 Underwater Orienteering World Championships, which CMAS approved.

He added that the memorandum includes several areas of cooperation with CMAS such as providing international expertise in diving and swimming, organizing tournaments, camps and environmental protection projects, and other areas, which enhance Sharjah’s international position in underwater sports.

Anna Arzhanova, stated that the Federation is thrilled with the new cooperation and with Sharjah’s level of commitment in underwater sports, from a series of free diving and finswimming to social projects that involve youth development, and environmental initiatives, stressing that such a commitment has a positive global impact at various levels.
