Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) celebrated the International Youth Day, which was declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and is observed annually on August 12.
The celebration of International Youth Day this year, according to SEDD Chairman Sultan Abdullah bin Haddah Al Suwaidi, is part of the UAE government's interest in youth to empower them to be able to assume responsibilities, innovate, and contribute to the well-being of Emirati society to move from the stage of supporting youth to the stage of strengthening the spirit of youth leadership.
The celebration includes a variety of different activities, all of which contribute to the event's success and encourage young people to participate in the UAE's development process and empowering them to effect positive change in their community and country.
Bin Haddah emphasised that the UAE, under its wise leadership, has placed a high value on the youth sector, which is the country's largest, based on its belief in its importance as a pillar of development and one of the main components of the country's success and supremacy in the global competitive race.
