Football, practicing life according to good morals

August 03, 2021 / 11:33 AM
Football is not like other games, football is the practice of life, good morals stand out here. If he loses it, that mean this man does not have morals for life situations. Therefore, we ask all players in the UAE, please rise. Climb this game.
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, during receiving members of the Sharjah Football Club, at Al Badee Palace, May 2019.

In this talk, which His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah honoured his sons from the Sharjah Club after winning the 2019 League Championship, the Ruler of Sharjah presented a different vision and approach between football and learning the basics of life in general. A vision that introduces these players and practitioners of all kinds of sports work to the importance of good morals, and links between sports and the ability to deal in all aspects of life. Because football, as he said, is a unique game that is very similar to behavior in life.

In football applications, there is cooperation and playing within a team, and each member has a specific role, and cooperation between team members is what leads the team and everyone to the reached goal. During this game, the importance of good manners comes to light. There is a referee running the game, who is strict with every behavior of a player, and unethical behavior can lead to the end of the player's relationship with the match. Here the player has misbehaved for the whole team.

During his speech, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah explains the issue of morals and values well to all players, that the most important thing in football is good morals, as well as what a person needs for all life. Whenever human morals improve in life, and he presents good values in his dealings with people, he reaps that treatment with a better one, and finds a respectable position among people, and thus he can highlight his talents and skills, and employ them to serve people.

But if a person does the opposite, and becomes an individual who does not cooperate for the benefit of everyone, but rather cares about his personal interests, and becomes indifferent to achieving the values of altruism, cohesion, goodness, solidarity, team spirit, and safety of others, then he is a selfish person who does not enjoy the love of team members. In football, a team is made up of club members, like family, and the rest of society, at work, with friends, and other places where people meet. And if a person becomes characterized by bad qualities, people will avoid dealing with him, and he loses more people around him every day, and thus he will be in a state of hostility with which he cannot achieve his goals in life.

His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah, intended by this simple, but very profound comparison, that the athletes learn the true meanings of sport, which leads them to be healthy people in their bodies and in their minds. By applying the meanings and values of dedication to team service, and contributing to achieving collective goals, a person has learned a lot that benefits him, his community and his country.
