Sharjah24: The Sharjah Livestock Market (SLM) , the latest project of the Sharjah Asset Management Company - the investment arm of the Government of Sharjah, witnessed a great turnout from the public during the blessed Eid Al-Adha period, in which workers met their needs for sacrifices, according to easy and quick procedures, while adhering to the highest standards for hygiene and safety.
During the four days of Eid, the Sharjah Livestock Market received a total 8,335 heads of livestock, distributed as follows: 1,724 on day one, followed by 2,229 heads on the second day, then 2,717 heads the day after, and 1,590 heads on the final day.
Abdullah Khalfan Al Shamsi, Director of the Sharjah Livestock Market, confirmed that all the teams worked very hard in an efficient manner to meet the needs of citizens and residents for various sacrifices throughout Eid Al-Adha, following all protocols for safety, health and hygiene standards, in addition to the government’s instructions and procedures regarding social distancing.
He said: "The new Sharjah Livestock Market has all the necessary capabilities, equipment and the latest technologies for slaughtering livestock as well as cutting and packing meat, whether for personal use, commercial purposes, or various occasions, with specialized teams and a veterinarian assisting all throughout the process to ensure the highest standards of public health and the environmental safety.”
The slaughterhouse accommodates about 240 heads of livestock per hour, according to the following pace: 150 to 200 sheep heads per hour, 20 cow heads per hour, 20 camel heads per hour. It has also a poultry slaughterhouse. The Sharjah Livestock Market is open daily to the public to buy and slaughter livestock from 8:00 in the morning until 10:00 in the evening.
