Sharjah 24: For the eighth year in a row, Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) is organising 'Joy of Eid' initiative, where 2,475 boxes will be distributed to children, starting from the first days of Eid Al Adha in the Emirate of Sharjah and Al Hamriyah, Al Dhaid, Khorfakkan, Mlieha, Al Madam, Al Bataeh and Kalba.
Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of the Department of Social Cohesion in SSSD, said that the boxes contain money for children, noting that the boxes will be distributed to the homes of needy families benefiting from SSSD's services.
Al Hammadi indicated that the volunteers play an important role in this initiative because the distribution tasks will fall on their shoulders on the first day of Eid Al Adha.
Al Hammadi added that the role of the volunteer lies in receiving the gift boxes from the starting point in the Wasit suburb, and the distribution is done to the homes of the children’s families in Sharjah and its cities.
For her part, Maryam Al Shamsi, Director of Sharjah Social Services Department in Al Hamriyah, and responsible for the "Joy of Eid" initiative, said that this initiative is one of a series of community projects implemented by the department throughout the year, within the framework of social responsibility that contributes to the happiness of individuals, in order to enhance the principles of compassion among community members.
