LSDA honours winners of 4th Sharjah Labour Sports Tournament

Sharjah 24: Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah, honored, at LSDA offices Thursday, the winning teams of the Fourth Sharjah Labour Sports Tournament, organised by the Authority on the playgrounds of the "Sharjah National Park” in cooperation with the Sharjah Sports Council".
More than 1,000 players participated in the tournament as they formed 60 teams in 5 games, namely football, basketball, volleyball, hockey and cricket, which continued every Friday for three months, from the fifth of February to the 2nd of April 2021. The tournament was held in an honest competition atmosphere with strict commitment of all teams to the Coronavirus - Covid 19 precautionary measures in the country.

Al Qaseer handed over the prizes to the top three teams in each game in the presence of Tariq Salem Al Khanbashi, President of Reach Target, the tournament organising company, Omar Al Sharji Director of Labour Standards and Policies at LSDA, Mohammed Ibrahim Duaifes, head of the organising team and representatives of the institutions participating in the tournament. 

Salem Al Qaseer congratulated the winning teams, expressing his satisfaction over the success of this fourth edition and its high level of competitions, stressing that the event represented a positive image of the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE for encouraging sports, especially in the labour sector for the important role it played in the growth of the country.

He said, "This tournament was supported by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, as it aims to have sports as a way of life for the labour sector, and to give workers the opportunity to entertain themselves." He added that this tournament was fortunate to have the direct follow-up of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council.

Al Qaseer pointed out that sports bring together individuals and societies, regardless of their nationalities and ethnicities. Thus, it plays an important role in developing the spirit of cooperation and competition, and enhances teamwork. 

He extended his heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the tournament, including sponsors and institutions in the public and private sectors.
