Sharjah 24: Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority (LSDA) in Sharjah, praised the UAE wise leadership’s keenness to improve the quality of life for all citizens and residents, especially workers, by issuing and enforcing laws that preserve their rights and provide them with a decent life.
In this regard, he noted the decision to ban work at noon and work performed under the sun and in open places from 12:30 pm until 3:00 pm, until September 15, in order to preserve their safety and protect them from the high summer heat and to provide an appropriate work environment in accordance with international best practices.

In a press statement, Al Qaseer said that the authority is keen to annually organise and participate in campaigns to prevent heat exhaustion, in cooperation with various government departments and private entities, pointing out that these campaigns contribute to educating workers about safety standards and how to overcome the high temperature by adhering to the law prohibiting work during the afternoon and providing workers with the needed protection gear.

The Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority added that this year’s multi-lingual campaigns are launched to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
