4th Sharjah Labour Sports Tournament concludes with great success

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority crowned the winning teams in the Fourth Sharjah Labour Sports Tournament in a distinguished closing ceremony, marking the successful conclusion of the tournament.
Organised by the Authority on the sports fields of Sharjah National Park in cooperation with the Sharjah Sports Council, about 1000 players forming 60 teams participated in the tournament in five games, namely football, basketball, volleyball, hockey and cricket. The tournament continued every Friday for a period of three months.

The closing ceremony was attended by Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah; Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council; Sheikh Mohammed bin Saqr bin Hamad Al Qasimi, Director of the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah; and Tariq Salem Al Hanbashi, Chairman of the organising company, Reach Target, a number of officials in the sports sector as well as representatives of the participating teams.

In his speech at the closing ceremony, Salem Al Qaseer expressed his satisfaction over the success of the fourth edition of the tournament, which was held over a period of three months in a healthy and honest competition atmosphere. He hailed the commitment of all teams to the precautionary measures adopted in the country against the Coronavirus – Covid-19.

He said, "The Labour Standards Development Authority in the Emirate of Sharjah has been organising the tournament since 2018, at the instructions and support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who directed us to emphasize on sports as a lifestyle for workers, and to entertain them. The success of the tournament was also attributed to the direct follow up of His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Executive Council. This success in organizing the tournament is a success for the Emirate of Sharjah in merging workers into the general sports scene of the emirate, which is witnessing a remarkable boom in all group and individual games.”

He added, "We congratulate the winning teams, and extend our thanks to the Sharjah Sports Council, the organising company Reach Target and all the authorities concerned in Sharjah for their efforts in having such a successful tournament that reflects the keen interest of Sharjah Emirate and the United Arab Emirates in sports and making it available to all segments of the society.

Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, expressed his satisfaction over the success achieved by the tournament and the high level of competitions, stressing that the event represented the importance of sports and reflects the importance of sports as a lifestyle. The tournament also reflects the keen interest of the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE in using sports to building bridges of friendship and harmony and strengthening relationship among all sectors of the society, especially the workers who are playing important role in the country’s growth and development.

Tariq Salem Al Khanbashi, Chairman of Reach Target company that organizes the tournament, thanked in his speech Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah for its confidence in assigning the organization to the company. He said his company was keen to provide all the requirements for the events for the success of the organisation as part of its community service commitment in order to promote sports especially among workers. He added, "The event has become one of the successful annual gatherings that revealed promising sports talents, and we hope that clubs will attract them to contribute in the flourishment of sports in the country."

Winning teams crowned 
 LSDA Chairman Salem Al Qaseer crowned the winning teams in the first three places with cups and medals in a grand ceremony. The winners were in Football, Fast team was crowned with the gold medal after winning the final match with a clean goal against National Paint team, which won the silver, and the Skinova team, which came third. The best player of the tournament went to Majeed Hamid from the National Paint team, the best scorer was Hazem Khaled from ADNOC team, the best goalkeeper Ahmed Al Desouki from Fast team, the best manager went to Wael Abdel Shakour  from Fast team, and the best coach was Saeed Salama  from ADNOC. The Ideal team was Sharjah Cooperative Society.

In basketball, the Abu Shagharah team was crowned champion, the second was Destroyer team, and the third was Fast team. In volleyball the Only Fresh team came first, the second was BigMart team, and the third Al Nahda team. In hockey the Falcon team was crowned in first place, the second place went to Dubai Hockey Club team, and the third was the United Emirates Hockey Club team. The ideal team title went to Dubai Hockey Club. In cricket the first place went to Bee'ah team, the second was Emirates Stevedoring team, and the third was ADNOC Sharjah team.
