Sharjah 24: According to Sharjah Police, a group of ten criminals was arrested, on Wednesday, in Sharjah for stealing citizens of their money after fraudulently obtaining their bank data. The majority of the con artists are Asian scammers.
The group, according to investigators, used phone scams to entrap their victims and steal money from their bank accounts.

The Criminal and investigation Department of the Eastern Region Police Department arrested the gang’s members in cooperation with Dubai Police.

Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Khalfan Al Naqbi, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Eastern Region Police Department, said that, “the Eastern Region Police Department received a report stating a complaint from a man who was conned after someone called him and requested him to update his bank details, then a fraudster withdrew Dh32,000 from his account after getting his banking information."

However, the experienced investigation team, who had previously dealt with similar situations, had enough information to track down the perpetrators. After an ambush, they were arrested one by one.

A huge number of smartphones and SIM cards with numbers for telecommunications companies, as well as a laptop and a series of invoices for money transactions, were seized by police.

The gang members admitted to scamming victims using phone scams and withdrawing huge sums of money during questioning. The captured gang members have been handed over to the prosecutor's office for further action.

Colonel Ali Al Kai Al Hamoudi, Director of the Eastern Region Police Department, advised bank account holders not to respond to calls from people claiming to be bank employees and not to reveal any information about their bank accounts or personal data in order to avoid being exploited illegally. He applauded the field teams' efforts in apprehending gang members in record speed and protecting others from becoming victims of the group.
