Sharjah 24: His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), confirmed that SSC is keen to promote various sports through cooperating with continental and international federations that would contribute to the development of sports in Sharjah.
His Excellency stressed that SSC holds fruitful meetings with officials benefiting all parties, and tackles Sharjah experiences in organising major sporting events and tournaments.
Al Hazami received at the council’s headquarters Dr. Waguih Azzam, President of the Egyptian and African Cycling Federations and First Vice President of the International Federation and the Arab Federation, in the presence of His Excellency Abdul Malik Jani, Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, and His Excellency Mr. Yasser Omar Al-Dokhi, Secretary General of the UAE Cycling Federation, in the framework of discussing cooperation and future plans between the Council and the International Cycling Federation.
On this occasion, His Excellency Issa Hilal referred to the importance of holding such meetings, which reflects the Council’s interest in developing cycling in Sharjah, and implementing the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and in follow-up of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council; and the Council continuous support to sports and athletes.
His Excellency Issa Hilal added that the Council exerts efforts to increase the number of cycling practitioners and achieve the best results for Sharjah, whereas the cycling sport is welcome in the Sharjah clubs. He concluded that the Council is keen, to organise virtual and live competitions, despite the Corona pandemic, in addition to launch the cycling season in the emirate.
