Sharjah24: The University of Sharjah (UoS) started conducting final exams for the fall semester of the current academic year 2020/2021, for theoretical and practical programs’ students. The exams period will last for three weeks during the month of December and will be conducted on campus for several courses in various disciplines.
The University is fully prepared to welcome students after applying all of the issued precautionary and preventive measures and providing the necessary facilities for the examinations in accordance with the guidelines set by the University in this regard.

Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University, stressed the University Administration’s keenness to ensure appropriate conditions for its students to conduct the exams scheduled during this semester. Several classrooms have been allocated to receive students and were prepared with all necessary equipment such as Internet services, signs, social distancing stickers, and proper ventilation under the full supervision of the faculty and administrative staff members at the University.

Prof. Sherif Sedky, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, affirmed that the University pays great attention to the health and safety of its students during the exams, which they perform in exceptional circumstances imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that the University considers any special circumstances that students may have and facilitate the examination processes either on campus or remotely using modern technologies that guarantee academic integrity. The tests have been designed by faculty members in innovative ways that help to measure the extent of students' comprehension and at the same time correspond to the nature of digital tests that provide equal opportunities for students, whether they are taking the tests on campus or remotely.

For his part, Dr. Hussein El Mahdi, Dean of Academic Support Services, confirmed that the examinations will be held at the University’s campus for several courses according to the capacity of the examination halls and in accordance with the health precautionary measures and social distancing directives to ensure the safety of the students on campus. The circumstances of students with special needs, chronic diseases, pregnant women, students living in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and students outside the country have been taken into consideration, so that their examinations are held remotely in conjunction with the exams held on the campus.

The University also worked on forming a central committee to supervise the examinations on campus consisting of University security units, the C Information Technology Center, Public Services, and the Registration Department. The Committee works on preparing exam schedules and halls to receive students according to the instructions issued by the official authorities, including measuring the temperature of students and ensuring that they take COVID-19 test before entering the exam. It also worked to provide all students' needs during the exams, starting with making the COVID-19 test free for students and staff in the examination center on campus.

It is noteworthy that the University prepared classrooms for students living in the eastern and central regions, as the student can take the exam in any of the University’s branches in Khorfakkan, Kalba and Al Dhaid after coordination with the central committee supervising the examinations on the campus.

In following up with the progress of the examinations on the campus during the first three days, the experiment recorded significant success by all standards, as students praised the preparations provided by the University in this regard.
