Sharjah 24: The UAE has achieved a historic milestone at the Asian Games, shattering its previous record by securing a total of 12 medals, including a record-breaking 7 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze. This performance eclipses the previous high of five gold medals set at the Hangzhou Games.

The nation's latest surge in success was driven by the dominant UAE jiu-jitsu team on the second day of competition. Mahdi Al-Awlaqi captured gold in the under-77kg category, Asma Al-Hosani clinched another gold, and Ammar Al-Hosani earned bronze in the under-94kg category, bringing the jiu-jitsu squad's individual haul to an impressive eight medals (five gold, two silver, and one bronze).

Across all sports, the UAE's seven gold medals were claimed by Maryam Karim (400m hurdles), Kazbek Naguchev (judo, under-73kg), and jiu-jitsu champions Balqees Abdulla (under-48kg), Khaled Al-Shehhi (under-62kg), Ahmed Andez (under-69kg), Mahdi Al-Awlaqi (under-77kg), and Asma Al-Hosani (under-52kg).

Rounding out the historic tally, the four silver medals were won by Sulaiman Abdulrahman (400m hurdles), the UAE show jumping team, and jiu-jitsu athletes Al-Anoud Al-Harbi (under-48kg) and Omar Al-Suwaidi (under-62kg), alongside Ammar Al-Hosani's sole bronze.
