In line with its commitment to women’s health, Sharjah Ladies Club and its branches are marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the “Inspired by Pink” initiative, featuring a programme of health, awareness and fitness activities.
Sheikha Al Suwaidi, Director of Sharjah Ladies Club, said the initiative reflects the club’s commitment to raising women’s awareness of the importance of health and self-care, in line with the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Sharjah Family and Community Council, to support women and improve their quality of life.
She added that every step towards prevention contributes to a healthier, more reassuring life.
The main branch of Sharjah Ladies Club is organising the initiative in cooperation with Medcare Hospital Sharjah and with sponsorship from Flormar Cosmetics, Grand Rose Flowers and ADNOC. Activities will begin on 1 October at Kounouz Hospitality and Events, with free clinical examinations from 11am to 8pm and a women’s health awareness session from 5pm to 6pm.
Running from 4pm to 8pm, the programme includes activities offered by the club’s facilities, covering different aspects of women’s wellbeing.
The “Your Energy in Pink” activity, organised by 180° Fitness Centre, combines integrative exercises with Zumba. The “Your Beauty, A Lasting Impact” initiative by Orchid Beauty Centre offers women the opportunity to contribute to a story of giving and hope by donating their hair.
Lafeef Restaurant will offer a selection of healthy meals and drinks, while Dalook Spa Resort will provide complimentary consultations.
To ensure a comfortable experience for mothers and children, Basateen Centre and Nursery will provide a safe and enjoyable children’s area, allowing mothers to access the examinations and services offered during the event.
The “Inspired by Pink” activities will run throughout October across Sharjah Ladies Club branches.
The Al Hamriyah branch will host awareness sessions delivered by NAMA Foundation and the Ministry of Health and Prevention. The Al Dhaid branch will offer medical examinations, an educational workshop, competitions and gifts, as well as a community iftar in cooperation with Etmaanan Foundation.
At Al Madam branch, activities include an awareness lecture, an art workshop and free examinations, in cooperation with Zulekha Hospital. The Khorfakkan branch will offer women a discount at its fitness centre, alongside an awareness lecture in cooperation with Khorfakkan Hospital and a workshop by Ibdaa Centre.
Dibba Al Hisn branch will organise a special Pink October event, in cooperation with Al Sharq Hospital, Dibba Al Hisn Centre and the Social Services Department, featuring an awareness lecture, an art workshop and a Zumba performance by the fitness centre. The branch will also offer a range of discounts and host an open day for children, featuring various workshops and activities.
The Wadi Al Helo branch will host an awareness lecture, prize draws, workshops and various discounts in cooperation with Khalifa Hospital.
Moudi Al Jabri, Head of Business Development at Sharjah Ladies Club branches, said the programme was designed to ensure that each activity offers women a distinct experience, rather than focusing solely on awareness.
She noted that the activities combine health screenings, fitness, beauty and workshops, with participation from several health and community organisations, giving every woman an opportunity to engage in activities suited to her interests.
The “Inspired by Pink” initiative seeks to make Pink October more than just a colour, offering women the opportunity to listen to their needs and give their health the attention it deserves. Self-care begins with a single step, which can be the start of lasting impact.
