Sharjah 24: Italy bounced back quickly from their opening defeat to Belgium with a commanding 4-1 victory over hosts Türkiye in Bursa in the second round of Group A matches in the top tier of the UEFA Nations League, giving Roberto Mancini his first win since returning to lead the Azzurri.

Italy dominated from the outset and took the lead in the ninth minute when Alessandro Bastoni headed home from a corner. Davide Frattesi doubled the advantage in the 22nd minute, following up after goalkeeper Altay Bayındır had parried a shot from Michael Kayode.

Just five minutes later, Kayode marked his Italy debut in the best possible fashion, scoring the third goal in the 27th minute with a low strike. The Azzurri went into the break three goals ahead after creating 10 attempts on goal in the opening 45 minutes.

Türkiye tried to fight back after the interval, with coach Vincenzo Montella making three substitutions at once. Barış Alper Yılmaz then reduced the deficit early in the second half.

Italy responded quickly, however, as Francesco Pio Esposito restored their three-goal advantage in the 50th minute. He rose to meet a cross and headed the ball into the net, effectively settling the match in the visitors' favour.

The victory gave Italy their first three points of the campaign following their 2-0 defeat by Belgium in Rome in the opening round. It was also Mancini's first victory in his second spell in charge of the national team.

The Azzurri now face a tough away test against France in Paris on Friday in the third round of Group A matches.
