Sharjah24: Sharjah Police recovered a stolen vehicle just two hours after it was reported missing. The car had been left unattended with the engine running. Following a quick investigation, officers located the vehicle, arrested the suspect, and returned the car to its owner.
The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, 24 September 2026, when the Operations Centre received a report from a woman stating that her vehicle had been stolen. Specialised teams immediately launched field investigations, while the suspect was referred to the police station for further legal procedures.
Sharjah Police stressed that leaving vehicles running, even for a short period, makes them vulnerable to theft and constitutes a traffic violation. Police emphasised the importance of following preventive measures to protect vehicles and personal property.
Sharjah Police urged motorists not to leave their vehicles running unattended while visiting shops, petrol stations, ATMs or other locations. Drivers were also advised not to leave valuables inside their vehicles, to switch off the engine and ensure that all doors are securely locked before leaving.
Sharjah Police also called on members of the public to contact 999 to report emergencies and 901 for enquiries and non-emergency cases.
