Sharjah 24: Final preparations are underway in Beijing's Huairou District for the return of the Great Wall Marathon and Zayed Charity Run on September 27. The high-profile event is set to bring together approximately 15,000 international and domestic participants, including a 100-member delegation from the UAE comprising runners, organisers, media, and officials.

Returning to Huairou for its second consecutive year, the event blends athletic competition with humanitarian action and cultural exchange, featuring both full 42-kilometer and half 21-kilometer marathons. Embodying the philanthropic legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, half of the event's proceeds will directly benefit Huairou Hospital, with delegation representatives scheduled to visit hospital leadership on September 26.

Opening ceremonies will commence with a traditional Al Ayyala performance alongside the national anthems of the UAE and China. Organizers—including Lieutenant General (Ret.) Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Zayed Charity Run Organizing Committee, and Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirates Red Crescent—emphasized the event's role in strengthening bilateral ties and demonstrating that humanitarian values transcend geographical borders.

Organized in cooperation with local Chinese municipal and sports authorities, alongside the UAE Embassy in Beijing, the event receives backing from major national sponsors including Erth Abu Dhabi, EDGE, Mubadala, Emirates Airline, and ADNOC. Since its inception in Abu Dhabi in 2001, the Zayed Charity Run has continued to use sport as a powerful platform for global community support and cross-cultural solidarity.
