Sharjah24: Engineer Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW), received a high-level delegation from the Sharjah Sports Council, led by Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, the Council’s Chairman. The meeting was attended by Dr Abdullah bin Sultan, Vice Chairman of the Council, and Mohammed Obaid Al Hasan, Secretary-General of the Council.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and coordination between the two sides, exploring ways to support sports projects and facilities, and developing working mechanisms to achieve the desired objectives and serve the sports sector in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The meeting builds on the existing cooperation between SDPW and the Sharjah Sports Council, as well as their commitment to unifying efforts and integrating roles in implementing and monitoring projects related to sports facilities and clubs. This aligns with the development taking place across Sharjah and contributes to providing an integrated sporting environment that meets the needs of clubs, athletes and various segments of society.

Priorities and readiness for the sporting season

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen the partnership and institutional integration, and to develop communication channels between specialist teams. The aim is to support the implementation of Council projects and improve the efficiency of work monitoring.

They also discussed several areas of mutual interest, including the development of sports facilities and the enhancement of their readiness. The readiness of sports projects and facilities, as well as the requirements of clubs, was reviewed in light of the upcoming sporting season. The two sides emphasised the need to identify priorities and address them through clear plans and programmes, to help accelerate the completion of required works while maintaining the efficiency and operational readiness of facilities.

The Sharjah Sports Council presented a number of future directions and projects, while the meeting examined the requirements of the next phase and the importance of early coordination for proposed projects and works. This will help establish appropriate concepts and implementation plans and determine technical requirements and timelines based on approved priorities and needs.

The meeting also addressed the development of joint monitoring mechanisms by strengthening direct communication between specialist teams and by tracking project progress and completion stages. This is intended to accelerate necessary procedures, facilitate efficient implementation, improve the quality of outcomes and maximise the use of sports facilities.

Al Qasimi highlights importance of continued cooperation

Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi praised the existing cooperation with the Sharjah Department of Public Works and the efforts of its teams in supporting the Council's projects and sports facilities.

He stressed the importance of continuing joint work and ongoing coordination to achieve the desired objectives, develop sports infrastructure, and enhance the readiness of facilities in line with the needs of clubs and the emirate's sports sector.

He noted that sports projects and facilities are integral to Sharjah's community development system, given their role in supporting sporting activities and providing an integrated, stimulating environment for a wide range of activities, thereby contributing to quality of life.

He also stressed the importance of continuing to develop and improve the efficiency of sports facilities, monitoring priority works in coordination with the Sharjah Department of Public Works, meeting the needs of clubs, and keeping pace with the aspirations of the emirate's sports sector.

Al Suwaidi affirms commitment to supporting sports projects

For his part, Engineer Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Public Works, affirmed the department's commitment to continuing its cooperation with the Sports Council and to supporting projects within its remit.

He noted that integration and early coordination among government entities are essential to improving the efficiency of project implementation, accelerating completion and making the best use of public facilities and infrastructure.

He added that the department operates through an integrated system for planning, implementing and monitoring projects, prioritising works related to facility readiness and the needs of clubs, and improving the efficiency of existing facilities.

He confirmed that specialist teams continue to coordinate and monitor projects to ensure that works are carried out in accordance with specified technical requirements and timelines, thereby achieving quality and efficiency at all stages of implementation.

He further stressed that continued cooperation with the Sports Council helps identify needs and priorities at an early stage, supporting sound project planning, expediting procedures and ensuring that works are implemented in line with the actual needs of sports facilities. This, he said, enhances their efficiency and sustainability and supports the objectives of Sharjah's sports sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Sports Council honoured the departments and work teams of SDPW in recognition of their efforts, cooperation and contributions to supporting the Council's projects and enhancing the readiness of its sports facilities.

The gesture reflected the spirit of partnership and integration between government entities and encouraged work teams to continue their efforts towards achieving shared objectives.
