Moderated by Dr Badeeah Alhashemi, Chair of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, the discussion highlighted the prominent position Emirati women have attained across various fields. Dr. Alhashemi noted that the seminar showcased the inspiring stories and experiences of successful Emirati women from the University who have participated in international events. She also expressed her pride in Emirati women, from academic staff to university students, who have represented the country with distinction on the global stage.
The panel discussion featured Dr Salama Al Rahoomi, Dean of Student Affairs (Women) and Assistant Professor at the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Dr. Noura Alkarbi, Director of the Office of Women in Research and Assistant Professor at the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Dr Amel Al Ali, Director of the Alumni Office and Associate Professor at the College of Computing and Informatics; and Dr Nadia Al Mazrouei, Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacotherapeutics at the College of Pharmacy. The panel also included Dr Nawal Askar, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Noora AlHooti, Assistant Professor, both from the College of Communication, as well as student Mozah Al Mazrouei from the College of Medicine.
The event was held as part of a series of initiatives organized by the University of Sharjah in conjunction with Emirati Women’s Day 2026 to celebrate the achievements of Emirati women and their distinguished presence across various fields. This year’s theme, “We Emerge Stronger and Better,” reflects the UAE’s aspirations for a new phase of excellence, building on the achievements of Emirati women throughout their journey and opening broader horizons for their participation at both the local and international levels. It also embodies their continued ambition to lead, innovate, and create a lasting impact.
