Sharjah24: Monaco dropped two valuable points for the first time this season after drawing 1-1 away to Strasbourg on Saturday, ending their run of three consecutive victories.
Senegalese Monaco defender Sadibou Sané gave Strasbourg the lead with an own goal shortly after the start of the second half in the 52nd minute. German forward Paris Brunner then equalised for the principality club with a superb strike from 20 metres.
Brunner, who represents Germany at youth level, increased his tally to five goals in six appearances for Monaco across all competitions this season.
Monaco remained top of the standings with 10 points but are now ahead of second-placed Rennes only on goal difference. Rennes defeated Marseille 1-0 on Friday in the opening match of the round.
