The gathering was attended by Abu Bakr Al Kindi, director of the institute, alongside department heads, staff members, and a gathering of guests and enthusiasts, in an atmosphere that reflected appreciation for the standing of Emirati women and their role in the nation's development and in preserving its identity and heritage.
Al Kindi said Emirati Women's Day represents an important national occasion to celebrate the achievements of Emirati women and to recognise their active presence across various fields. He noted that women have long been, and remain, an essential partner in building society and strengthening its gains, adding that the support and empowerment they receive reflects the wise vision that has placed people at the heart of development and progress.
He added that women in the heritage sector play a pivotal role in passing cultural heritage on to new generations through their participation in traditional crafts and heritage events and initiatives. He affirmed the Institute's commitment to providing a supportive and motivating environment for women, highlighting their contributions and creativity in ways that strengthen their presence on the cultural and heritage scene and reinforce Emirati heritage as an authentic part of national identity.
The event's programme included a tour of several participating corners and projects, an exhibition of traditional Al Suwaiya jewellery and heritage attire, alongside the participation of the MZDAN project, entrepreneur Fatima Al Mousawi, and the Lafondelle project – reflecting the diversity of Emirati women's creativity across heritage and entrepreneurship.
The event featured a number of stage segments, opening with a welcome address by Mariam Al Ajel, followed by a dialogue session with Al Kindi. Interactive entertainment competitions were also held for Institute staff, adding to the spirit of participation in marking the occasion.
The programme featured workshops on weaving (Sadu), making accessory holders, and gold-panel painting, and distributed keepsakes to participants and guests, all celebrating Emirati women and showcasing authentic Emirati heritage.
