Sharjah24: The activities of the Sharjah Sports Summer – A Holiday Reimagined programme got under way yesterday morning at Dibba Al Hisn Sports and Cultural Club under the supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council. The opening was attended by Dr Mohammed Ahmed Al Mutawa, Chairman of Dibba Al Hisn Sports and Cultural Club, and Mohammed Abdullah Rashid Al Tarban, Chairman of Dibba Al Hisn Football Club.
The first day included welcoming participants and completing registration procedures in a lively atmosphere that reflected the enthusiasm of children and young people to take part in the programme. Club officials and the organising team were also present to oversee the activities and welcome parents and participants.
The opening ceremony began with a speech by Ahmed Abdullah Al Ghusayb, who welcomed the participants and expressed his sincere appreciation to the Sharjah Sports Council, Dibba Al Hisn Sports and Cultural Club, and the organisations and institutions that contributed to the success of the summer programme. He also praised parents for their cooperation and their commitment to enrolling their children so they could benefit from the programme’s purposeful activities.
The first day featured an awareness workshop entitled “Security Safety”, presented by the Civil Defence Unit in the Eastern Region, to enhance participants’ understanding of safety and prevention measures. An interactive workshop, “My Family is the Secret of My Happiness”, was also held, highlighting the vital role of the family in shaping children’s character and reinforcing positive values.
At the conclusion of the day’s activities, Ahmed Abdullah Al Ghusayb outlined the objectives of the Sharjah Sports Summer – Our Holiday is Different programme and explained the guidelines and regulations governing the initiative, helping to ensure a safe and encouraging environment that enables participants to make the most of the activities on offer.
The programme will continue until 30 July, offering a wide range of sporting, cultural, recreational and educational activities. Through the initiative, Dibba Al Hisn Sports and Cultural Club aims to make productive use of the summer holiday by developing the skills of children and young people, discovering their talents, and promoting creativity, cooperation and national belonging within an engaging learning and recreational environment.
