Sharjah 24: UAE national judo team member Bashirat Khroudi secured a bronze medal in the under-52 kg category at the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam in Mongolia. Her podium finish marks a significant achievement for Emirati sports in a highly competitive tournament that featured 454 athletes representing 58 countries.

Strong run through the competition

Khroudi delivered a dominant performance throughout the competition, defeating opponents from South Korea and Mongolia in the preliminary rounds. Although she was halted in the semifinals by Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Ota Abe of Japan, Khroudi bounced back in the repechage to defeat Spain’s Toro Soler and secure the bronze medal.

UAE team prepares for heavyweight bouts

The UAE national team will look to build on this success as it wraps up its campaign in Mongolia with upcoming heavyweight bouts. Remaining competitors include Eliza Letiev in the under-78 kg division and Aram Georgian in the under-90 kg division.
