Sharjah 24 – AFP: One person was killed and five others wounded in a series of shooting attacks across several locations in Israel on Sunday, before security forces killed the suspected attacker.

Emergency response and police action

Israel's emergency service Magen David Adom transported the five injured victims to the hospital, including two in serious condition, while police located a vehicle linked to the assailant and arrested an additional suspect attempting a stabbing.

Attacks across multiple locations

The incidents occurred in towns near the occupied West Bank, including Tzur Natan, Tzur Yitzhak, and a petrol station where witnesses reported hearing gunfire and seeing a victim collapse.

Suspect identified and political reaction

Police identified the deceased attacker as a Palestinian citizen of Israel from Taybeh with a criminal history, prompting condemnation from Israeli leaders who praised the rapid response of security forces.

Netanyahu convenes security meeting

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said he held a special security meeting and was closely monitoring developments following the attack.

Checkpoints closed in West Bank

Palestinian local sources reported that Israeli forces closed two military checkpoints at the entrance to Tulkarm, near the shooting sites, and established an additional checkpoint at the entrance to Qalqilya.
