Sharjah 24 – AFP: Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket exploded on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral, Florida during a hotfire test, according to US media reports. The company said it experienced an “anomaly” and confirmed that all personnel were safe and accounted for.

Video from the incident showed smoke rising from beneath the rocket before it erupted into a large fireball. The explosion marks another setback for the company, which is owned by Jeff Bezos.

Officials respond as investigation follows recent setbacks

Florida congressman Mike Haridopolos said he was in contact with NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman following the blast, adding that he was relieved there were no injuries and praised first responders and engineers.

The incident comes after another setback last month, when New Glenn failed to place a communications satellite into the correct orbit, prompting an investigation into the mission.
