Sharjah 24 – Reuters: Casper Ruud advanced to the quarterfinals of the Rome Masters after a straight-sets win over Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in the ATP 1000 tournament.

Ruud powers past Musetti in straight sets

On Tuesday, Ruud defeated the home favourite 6-3, 6-1 on a windy main court, continuing his strong form on clay and remaining unbeaten in Rome.

Musetti struggles with injury concerns

Musetti, who had earlier shown signs of physical strain and required a medical timeout, struggled with a left thigh issue during the match and was unable to compete at full strength.

Khachanov also advances to quarterfinals

Elsewhere in the draw, Russia’s Karen Khachanov ended the run of Croatia’s Dino Prižmić with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) victory to secure his own place in the quarterfinals.

Musetti’s ranking and French Open doubts

Musetti is expected to fall out of the top 10 rankings ahead of the French Open next week and has raised doubts about his participation in Paris due to injury concerns.

Ruud targets first Rome final

Ruud, meanwhile, is aiming to go beyond the Rome semifinals for the first time after previously reaching that stage in 2020, 2022, and 2023.
