The sixth day of the 17th edition of the championship continued today, featuring intense contests among blue and purple belts with broad participation from local and international clubs and academies.
Commando Group Academy secured first place, Al Jazira Club came in second, and Al Ain Club finished third.
The competitions were attended by Sheikh Zayed bin Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Excellency Abdulmunem Al Hashemi, President of the UAE and Asian Federations and First Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation; His Excellency Abdullah Mubarak Al Muhairi, Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority; His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council; His Excellency Carlos Gardez, Deputy Consul General at the Embassy of Brazil in Abu Dhabi; and several officials from the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and government departments.
His Excellency Carlos Gardez expressed his honor in attending the distinguished championship, noting that it reflects the deep and growing relations between the UAE and Brazil. He emphasized that the UAE has become the preferred destination for thousands of Brazilian athletes, offering an ideal and welcoming environment supported by warm Emirati hospitality.
He added that Abu Dhabi continues to excel in hosting major international sporting events at the highest standards, earning global admiration for its hospitality and organization.
Mansour Mohammed Al Dhaheri, board member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, affirmed that the championship is reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s status as a global capital of jiu-jitsu. He highlighted the participation of more than 10,000 athletes from 130 countries as evidence of the growing international confidence in the emirate’s organizational excellence.
He noted that the championship aligns with the UAE leadership’s vision to invest in future generations through a sport that instills discipline, focus, self-confidence, and patience.
The championship continues tomorrow with the Masters category competitions—one of the key events in the program due to the high level of skill displayed by athletes in this category. Matches are expected to showcase intense competition featuring elite ranked players from around the globe.
