Tuvalu PM visits Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Feleti Penitala Teo, Prime Minister of Tuvalu, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, accompanied by his wife, Madame Tausaga Teo, Dr Tauisi M Taupo, Ambassador of Tuvalu to the UAE, and an accompanying delegation.

Warm welcome and guided tour

The delegation was welcomed by Dr Yousif Abdallah Alobaidli, Director-General of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, who guided them through the mosque’s halls and courtyards. Dr Alobaidli briefed the visitors on the mosque’s history and its cultural message promoting coexistence, tolerance, and openness, inspired by the legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father. He also highlighted the centre’s role in fostering cross-cultural dialogue and enhancing understanding between civilizations worldwide.

Exploring Islamic art and architecture

Cultural tour specialist Hasher Aldhaheri provided an overview of the mosque’s artistic and architectural features, showcasing exemplary Islamic art and design across the ages. The tour emphasized how diverse architectural styles harmoniously blend within the mosque, reflecting the beauty of cultural unity and creativity.

Visit to Sheikh Zayed mausoleum

The delegation also visited the mausoleum of the late Sheikh Zayed, reflecting on his wisdom and vision of peace, which continue to shape the UAE’s culture of tolerance and coexistence.

Commemorative gifts and publications

The Prime Minister was presented with a commemorative gift reflecting the mosque’s artistic beauty, along with a copy of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: Lights of Peace, a publication highlighting the mosque’s architectural style and artistic splendour, featuring award-winning photographs from the “Spaces of Light” competition.
