This milestone follows Borouge’s successful debut earlier this year of its first locally produced healthcare polypropylene, further broadening the company’s range of advanced materials intended to support critical healthcare and pharmaceutical applications.
Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Borouge, said: “This launch positions Borouge at the forefront of healthcare-grade production in the UAE, strengthening our leadership across the region. By streamlining access to high-quality medical materials, we are proactively expanding our healthcare portfolio with locally manufactured polymers that meet international standards.”
He stated that the introduction of Bormed™ LE6607-PH supports a range of healthcare and pharmaceutical applications — from producing sterile packaging to enhancing patient care — and demonstrates Borouge’s dedication to innovation, industrial progress, and national self-sufficiency.
Built on Borealis’ proven Bormed™ technology, Bormed™ LE6607-PH is an additive-free low-density polyethene (LDPE) designed for pharmaceutical and medical packaging, such as blow-fill-seal bottles, ampoules, and other sterile containers.
The polymer is optimised for purity, compliance, and stability, meeting EU and US Pharmacopoeia standards. It guarantees minimal extractables and leachables, maintaining compatibility with aseptic processing systems and supporting the highest global safety standards.
By manufacturing this advanced material in the UAE, Borouge enhances supply chain flexibility, reduces lead times, and ensures reliable delivery to healthcare manufacturers and providers across the Middle East and Asia, helping them maintain quality, manage risks, and prioritise patient safety.
This achievement emphasises Borouge’s alignment with the ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative, which aims to strengthen the country’s industrial independence and foster economic diversification. The locally produced LDPE supports sustainable growth in value-added sectors, contributing to the UAE’s long-term vision for a resilient, innovation-driven economy.
The launch builds on the earlier success of Bormed™ RG868MO, Borouge’s first healthcare-grade polypropylene produced in the UAE, broadening the company’s healthcare solutions portfolio and reinforcing its role as a key supporter of medical innovation and national manufacturing capacity.
