Led by world-renowned authors, editors, translators, and creators, the workshops will offer practical learning opportunities for visitors of all ages and interests. With limited places available, these sessions present a rare chance to learn directly from experts who have influenced the global arts and publishing sectors.
Among the headline sessions is “What Do Translators Really Do?”, a two-day exploration of literary translation by Professor Lisa Dillman, an award-winning translator. Taking place on 15–16 November, the workshop reveals the creative choices and linguistic challenges involved in adapting works across cultures, guiding participants through the craft of maintaining an author’s voice in another language.
Dr Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai, an internationally acclaimed novelist, will lead “Unleash Your Creative Writing Powers & Reflect on Your Heritage” (7–9 November). Over three immersive sessions, participants will engage in guided writing exercises and personal reflection, learning how to transform cultural memory and emotion into compelling storytelling.
For those aiming to enter publishing, renowned editor Sangeeta Mehta presents “From Final Draft to Finished Book: The Editor’s Role in the Book Publication Process” (8–10 November). The three-day workshop offers a behind-the-scenes look at the editorial process — from refining manuscripts to preparing them for publication — giving aspiring authors an insider’s view of the publishing world.
Television enthusiasts can join Matthew Witten, a veteran TV writer of Pretty Little Liars, for “Five and a Half Steps to Pilot Writing Success” on 9 November. In this masterclass, Witten shares his step-by-step guide to crafting a compelling television pilot, revealing what networks and audiences seek in a hit show.
Beyond literature, SIBF 2025 will showcase a range of creative and artistic workshops celebrating craftsmanship and imagination. The “String Art” and “Music Box” sessions invite participants to explore geometry, design, and nostalgia, while “Crafted Stories” transforms beloved comic narratives into handcrafted textile art.
Other highlights include “The Mini Library” and “The Mini Coffee Shop” workshops, where participants can craft intricate miniature worlds while learning detailed skills, from interior design to decorative finishing.
Workshops centred on well-being and nutrition will also feature prominently at this year’s fair. Participants can acquire practical culinary skills through “Preparing Balanced Lunch Boxes” and “Tasty Snacks”, while the “Food Allergies” session offers expert insight into preparing safe and nutritious meals for those with dietary restrictions.
