Fun and engaging Yoga for young minds
Lily, who has six years of experience teaching yoga across Dubai and Sharjah, emphasised that mindfulness can start early. “Children as young as two can begin learning through imitation, and by five or six, they’re ready to explore how their bodies move and feel,” she said.
The workshop welcomed over 15 children, who set aside digital devices to follow yoga mats and instructions. The session began with simple breathing exercises and visualisation techniques to foster focus and control.
Animal-inspired poses and playful learning
The children were guided through stretches and poses inspired by animals, including cow, cat, dog, and butterfly, creating a lively and playful environment. Lily encouraged imaginative descriptions like "stirring the pot" and "tapping the floor" to keep the activities fun and interactive.
Celebrating mindfulness through movement
Despite the children’s boundless energy, Lily noted that they engaged attentively, asking questions and following the exercises. Participants Aya and Sarah enjoyed striking poses, highlighting that mindfulness can be both playful and meaningful. The class concluded with applause, celebrating shared movement and effort.
Inspiring cultural and educational engagement
For Lily, participating in SIBF 2025 was an enriching experience. “It’s my first time here, and it’s amazing — so many cultures, languages, and children engaging with books and activities off-screen,” she said. “In today’s world, that’s so important.”
