The People's Scholar: Abd al-Rahman al-Sa'di

At the age of 23, the film follows his rise from being a brilliant student to a respected member of society who became an imam, judge, and author of sixty-five books. His most famous work, the Quranic Tafsir, is the centre of attention. The moderate approach and straightforward, plain language of Al-Sa'di's interpretation brought the wisdom of the Quran to everyone by simplifying difficult themes for the average individual.

Beyond his academic pursuits, the video shows somebody who was very involved in his community, a scholar who placed a high value on science and poetry and who made extensive use of the popular media of his time to disseminate information.
