Sharjah 24: Nasser Al Darmaki, Deputy Director of the ICCROM Regional Centre in Sharjah, announced that 32 experts from around the world are participating in the Fifth Arab Forum for Cultural Heritage, which began on Monday under the theme: "The Role of Women and Youth in Cultural Heritage Preservation and Museum Innovation."

Forum schedule and discussion topics

Al Darmaki stated that the three-day forum will feature six sessions, which will address a range of topics including the traditional roles of women in passing down cultural heritage, the role of youth as innovators in heritage preservation and museum development, the cultural resilience of societies in the face of globalisation, heritage as a sustainable source of livelihood for women, and the development of policies to support the preservation of heritage.

International participation and key objectives

In a statement to Sharjah 24, Al Darmaki explained that the forum will review various international experiences from within the Arab world. The event includes the participation of numerous international organizations and representatives from nearly all Arab countries, reflecting its broad and inclusive scope.

Empowering women and youth through dialogue

He emphasized that the forum provides a vital platform for women and youth to showcase the significant work they are undertaking in the field of cultural heritage. The outcomes and recommendations of the forum will be submitted to the relevant ministries across the Arab region and to the League of Arab States, ensuring that the discussions contribute meaningfully to future heritage policies.
