Fulham took an early lead in the third minute through Mexican striker Raúl Jiménez. Villa responded when England international Ollie Watkins ended his goal drought with the equalizer in the 37th minute. Scottish midfielder John McGinn then put the hosts ahead in the 49th minute, before Argentine substitute Emiliano Buendía sealed the win with a third goal just two minutes later.
With the victory, Villa moved to six points from one win, three draws, and two defeats. Fulham, meanwhile, suffered their second loss of the campaign, remaining on 10 points.
The result comes as a morale boost for Unai Emery’s side ahead of Thursday’s Europa League group stage clash against Dutch champions Feyenoord. Villa had already celebrated their first win of the season in the same competition, beating Italian side Bologna 1-0 at home.
