Sharjah24 - AFP: Giorgio Armani’s final collection takes to the runway on Sunday at Milan Fashion Week. Originally planned as a celebration of the Italian house’s 50th anniversary, the show now stands as a poignant tribute to the late designer, who passed away this month at the age of 91.

A tribute amid renaissance art

The show is staged at the Pinacoteca di Brera, where over 120 Armani creations are displayed in an anniversary exhibition. Despite Armani’s death, the company chose to proceed with both the exhibition and the runway show, expected to be a solemn black-tie affair. Guests will tour iconic pieces, from red carpet gowns to Richard Gere’s suit in “American Gigolo”, displayed among Renaissance masterpieces. Each invitation included a white t-shirt printed with Armani’s image as a memento.

Emporio Armani: A final city journey

Earlier this week, Armani’s last Emporio Armani collection was showcased in Milan. The theme evoked a return from travel, blending raffia caps, wide trousers, and nomadic bags with urban jackets, parkas, jumpsuits, skirts, and evening wear. The muted palette of beige, black, and mineral grey reflected Armani’s signature understated elegance.

Closing Milan Fashion Week

Sunday’s Giorgio Armani show effectively closes Milan Fashion Week, though the programme runs until Monday. This season has featured standout spring/summer 2026 collections from Prada, Gucci, Fendi, and Dolce & Gabbana, cementing Milan’s place as a global fashion capital.
